A route to a care visit

Where can a Tempe care search begin?

Compare an in-person clinic with licensed telehealth, which means care from a distance. Ask how each would handle your visit, tests and follow-up.

Arizona rules for remote care were checked on October 3, 2026.

A doorway and a screen connect to a shared path for the next care question.

How do I compare the visit routes?

For an in-person visit, ask where any tests and later visits would take place.

For remote care, ask what happens if an examination needs to be done in person.

The health professional giving care must decide whether a remote visit is enough. That decision depends on symptoms, health history and any need for a hands-on examination.

A question to bring

Who will arrange the next step if a screen visit leaves the question unanswered?

Walk through a first visit

Can the health professional be in another state?

An Arizona board can register some health professionals who hold a license in another state so they can treat patients here remotely.

Registration checks cover an unrestricted license, any past discipline and insurance that covers claims arising from the person’s care.

They must also provide the required paperwork, pay fees and follow Arizona care rules.

Telehealth registration alone does not allow in-person practice in Arizona.

Ask the Arizona board: “Can this person treat me while I am in Arizona? Does their permission cover a video visit, an in-person visit or both?”

Which license record do I check?

For an MD, meaning a medical doctor, Arizona’s Medical Board has a Doctor Search.

A doctor with DO after their name is an osteopathic doctor: a doctor licensed to give medical care by a separate Arizona board.

Use the Arizona Osteopathic Board’s Find your DO search for that doctor.

For a nurse, use the Arizona Nursing Board’s links to Nursys, its nurse-record search.

A nurse practitioner is a nurse whose certified role includes assessing health problems. To prescribe, the nurse also needs the Nursing Board’s permission.

Ask the Nursing Board to check the nurse’s license, certificate for that role and permission to prescribe.

A physician assistant has a separate board with a PA Search.
