The medicine map
What is a peptide, in plain words?
Peptide is a broad name. Ask which medicine is being offered before comparing treatments.
Information about these medicines and US approval was checked on September 26, 2026.
What does the word tell me?
In peptide care, the name describes a small chain made from the parts that form proteins.
Insulin is an example.
A peptide label by itself gives no answer about a product’s approval for treatment.
What does an approved product mean?
A medicine can receive US approval for particular uses through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Wegovy and Ozempic are approved US semaglutide products, while Zepbound and Mounjaro are approved US tirzepatide products.
Those names do not make every product with the same ingredient an approved medicine.
What is this medicine’s complete name? Is it a pill, an injection or something else? Why is it being offered to me?
What does “compounded” mean?
Compounding means making a custom medicine instead of supplying a finished drug-company product.
Some patients have needs an approved product cannot meet.
A custom preparation is not FDA-approved.
A custom medicine goes on sale without FDA review of how well it works, how safe it is or its quality.
